Presse : "It’s all delivered with wit, flair and vivid humanity. And it’s a hell of a story."
- Sam Marlowe, The Times (four stars)
"Ink is a welcome sort of theatre: political without being preachy, contemporary without necessarily being set in the present and, crucially, rich in entertainment value with its continual supply of zinging, witty lines."
- Fiona Mountford, Evening Standard (five stars)
"West End theatre tickets may cost a little more than the 5p Sun, but Carvel's performance alone is worth the price. Hold the front page: this one's a smasher."

Dernière : Saturday 31 January 2015
Mise en scène : Rupert Goold
Chorégraphie :

Presse : "Tim Pigott-Smith gives the performance of his distinguished career as Charles. He eschews mere impersonation to convey, in the first half, a tormented idealist struggling to come to terms with his new role. He then grows into a movingly tragic figure in his baffled rage at being outmanoeuvred by members of his own family and his realisation of the hollowness of the throne." Michael Billington for The Guardian

"There are confident performances all round in Rupert Goold’s stylish production, not least from James's dynamically front-foot PM. This is undoubtedly one of the most stimulating plays of the year." Fiona Mountford for The Evening Standard

"Tim Piggott-Smith gives the performance of his career as Charles and is supported by a sterling cast who all manage to create convincing simulacra of the Royal Family without lapsing into caricature." Neil Norman for The Daily Express

Presse : "To sign, or not to sign. That is the question that hangs so urgently over the wavering title character of 'King Charles III,' Mike Bartlett’s flat-out brilliant portrait of a monarchy in crisis, which blazed open on Sunday night at the Music Box Theater." Ben Brantley for New York Times

"Director Rupert Goold’s tight and zestily acted staging provides the play a royal showcase." Joe Dziemianowicz for New York Daily News

"Galvanizing and astonishing, 'King Charles III' doesn’t just send you back to Shakespeare’s histories; it makes you want to write one." David Cote for Time Out New York

"Playwright Mike Bartlett's vibrant and thrilling 'King Charles III' opened Sunday at the Music Box Theatre, borrowing much of The Bard's style and symbols but looking to the near future. It crackles with intrigue and ideas." Mark Kennedy for Associated Press

"King Charles III is written largely in blank verse, which might sound like a cumbersome affectation. But in Rupert Goold's expertly crafted production it hums with the music of conversation and often-heated debate, occasional rhyming couplets and all." David Rooney for The Hollywood Reporter

"A spellbinding performance by the amazing Tim Pigott-Smith." Marilyn Stasio for Variety

Version 12

Made in Dagenham (2014-11-Adelphi Theatre-London)

Type de série: Original
Théâtre: Adelphi Theatre (Londres - Angleterre)
Durée : 5 mois
Nombre :
Première Preview : Thursday 09 October 2014
Première : Wednesday 05 November 2014
Dernière : Saturday 11 April 2015
Mise en scène : Rupert Goold
Chorégraphie : Aletta Collins
Producteur :
Avec : Gemma Arterton (Rita O’Grady), Adrian Der Gregorian (Eddie), Steve Furst (Mr Tooley), Mark Hadfield (Harold Wilson), Sophie-Louise Dann (Barbara Castle), Sophie Stanton (Beryl), Heather Craney (Clare), Sophie Isaacs (Sandra), Julius D'Silva (Mr Hopkins), Naomi Frederick (Lisa), Isla Blair, David Cardy, Naana Agyei-Ampadu, Thomas Aldridge, Kate Coysten, Christopher Howell, Scott Garnham, Ian Jervis, Paul Kemble, Emma Lindars, Jo Napthine, Tracey Penn, Gemma Salter, Gareth Snook, Rachel Spurrell, Emily Squibb, Karli Vale, and Rene Zagger.
Commentaires : Essex 1968. Like millions of other working women, each morning Rita O’Grady is just trying to get her husband out of bed, get the kids off to school and get to work at the factory on time. But life is about to change forever when it’s announced that the girls in the sewing room of Ford’s Dagenham car plant will have their pay grade dropped to ‘unskilled’. Quickly drawing on a strength she never knew she had, Rita leads her friends in a battle against the might of Ford and the corruption of the Union supposed to protect them. As the girls’ inspiring journey gets bigger than anyone could have imagined, the pressure is too much for some, but can Rita keep up the fight and the happy home she’s worked so hard for?
Presse : "But like the cause of equal pay itself, there’s an air of unfinished business about it all. Despite celebrating how a bunch of workers found their voice, the evening lacks a truly compelling one of its own." Dominic Cavendish for The Telegraph
"This show – with its slick, catchy tunes ... infectiously demonstrates that it's a saga well worth making a song and dance about." Paul Taylor for The Independent
"Turned into a big, brassy musical, the show has mislaid the quality that made the film so good: a real heart." Michael Billington for The Guardian
"With its feel-good approach to a long-won battle for fairness, this show will win plenty of friends out for an evening’s easy entertainment." Quentin Letts for The Daily Mail
"... a funny, thoughtful and uplifting show that deserves to be seen." Simon Edge for The Daily Express
"Made in Dagenham is broad, occasionally crass and a little too manipulative (the final number is an especially brazen bid to get us on our feet). But it also manages to be robustly likeable — mixing passionate populism with bursts of big-budget flamboyance." Henry Hitchings for the Evening Standard

Version 13

Oliver! (2009-01-Drury Lane-London)

Type de série: Revival
Théâtre: Drury Lane Theatre (Londres - Angleterre)

Durée : 1 an 11 mois 4 semaines
Nombre : 829 représentations
Première Preview : Saturday 13 December 2008
Première : Wednesday 14 January 2009
Dernière : Saturday 08 January 2011
Mise en scène : Sam Mendes • Rupert Goold
Chorégraphie : Matthew Bourne
Producteur :
Avec : Rowan Atkinson (Fagin), Jodie Prenger/Tamsin Carroll (Nancy ), Burn Gorman (Bill Sykes), Julius D’Silva (Mr Bumble) , Wendy Ferguson (Widow Corney) , Julian Bleach (Mr Sowerberry), Louise Gold (Mrs Sowerberry) Laurence Jeffcoate/Gwion Wyn Jones/Harry Stott (Oliver), Eric Dibb Fuller/Ross McCormack/Robert Madge (Artful Dodger)
Commentaires : Although based on the 1994 Palladium production, some new dance sequences were created and the Palladium prologue was removed. The show now opened, as it originally did in 1960, with the workhouse children entering, singing “Food Glorious Food”. The roles of Nancy and Oliver were cast via another BBC reality TV series. When Rowan Atkinson fell ill in April 2009, Russ Abbot took over for three months, after which Fagin was played by Omid Djalili. In December 2009, Griff Rhys Jones took over for six months, with Russ Abbot returning for another six months. Even before opening night, the show had broken all box-office records at Drury Lane (doubtless due to the TV publicity). For the final month, Griff Rhys Jones returned to see show to its triumphant end on January 8 th , 2011.
Presse : CHARLES SPENCER for THE DAILY TELEGRAPH says, "A cracking night of tuneful entertainment...It's absolutely fantastic showbiz." MICHAEL BILLINGTON for THE GUARDIAN says, " Although this is sanitised Dickens, Bart manages to write some thumping good tunes...Rowan Atkinson turns in a sprightly, distinctive performance...Jodie Prenger as Nancy ...acquits herself extremely well."QUENTIN LETTS for THE DAILY MAIL says, "Rowan Atkinson, playing that warped scout master Fagin, was the eyebrow-wriggling, funny-walking, laugh-wringing supremo of the show...Jodie Prenger, who won the part of the doomed, decent Nancy in a primetime BBC1 talent show, stands up to the test like a sturdy galleon...Anyone who needs cheering up should get along to Drury Lane sharpish and catch this humdinger of a night." MICHAEL COVENEY for THE INDEPENDENT says, "Well, is it a great musical? Yes. Is Rowan Atkinson any good as Fagin? Fairly good, fairly funny, but he can't sing very well... [Jodie Prenger] Her voice is okay, but she can't act and she doesn't have the depth of lung power to fill a plastic bag, let alone a West End theatre on a nightly basis...A masterpiece is restored, but not in its fullest glory." BENEDICT NIGHTINGALE for THE TIMES says, "Jodie Prenger...went on to prove herself a tough, coarse, credible presence with a big, robust voice...Oliver! remains as good and revivable as anything he [Bart] wrote." NICHOLAS DE JONGH for THE EVENING STANDARD says, "I felt director Rupert Goold, came up with a traditional, unadventurous Oliver."
